It looks like we are about to see another concept car under this nameplate. The first one was presented in 2006 and it was imagined as a more car-like version of the famous Ram 1500. However, this wasn’t the first time we saw this name in use. Older generations probably remember the interesting coupe/ute from the early 80s.
This time, we are about to see something different. The 2019 Dodge Rampage Concept will probably come as a smaller alternative to the Ram 1500. There is a big chance to see it as a mid-size truck, while some reports suggest even body-on-frame platform.
- Distinctive styling
- Spacious and comfortable cabin
- Efficient engine
- Not as capable as some competitors
- Production version will probably feature high price tag
When it comes to the exterior design, we presume that the 2019 Dodge Rampage Concept will be a mid-size truck. Still, it will probably come more comfort-oriented than you would usually expect. Therefore, some reports even a unibody architecture. The Honda Ridgeline features such design for years and rides very successfully.
Moreover, there are several more carmakers that plan to introduce such vehicles. In that case, the Rampage would feature a pretty high level of comfort. Still, some reports suggest a more traditional, body-on-frame platform, which would provide much better working performances.
Fortunately for Dodge, FCA already has a prepared platform for his occasion. The all-new Jeep Gladiator is coming, so 2019 Dodge Rampage Concept could use the same mechanics.
When it comes to the interior design, we expect a typical Dodge layout, inspired by the new-generation Ram 1500. Therefore, you can count on a pretty upscale cabin, with lots of soft-touch surfaces and a full load of tech features. If this concept arrives on a unibody platform, we can expect an even higher level of comfort.
In any case, we are pretty sure that the concept version will come is some kind of a double cab or crew cab layout. A possible production version probably won’t be available in a single cab layout either.
At this point, there are two engines that come to mind as possible candidates for the 2019 Dodge Rampage Concept. The first one is a well-known 3.6-liter V6 unit. We expect to see the same version of the engine that powers the new Wrangler.
It delivers around 290 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. There is also a chance to see a new 2.0-liter turbo inline-four, which is good for about 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. In any case, count on an 8-speed automatic transmission.
2019 Dodge Rampage Concept Release Date and Price
The 2019 Dodge Rampage Concept could hit some of the major cars shows this year. A possible production version would probably feature a base price of around $30,000.
