During a previous couple of months, we’ve been hearing a lot of rumors about the future of the popular truck. While many of them were suggesting a complete redesign, it looks like the current model is about to remain in production for several more years, and that the redesign is about to happen in 2023.
Therefore, we count on another update before the redesign, most likely for the 2021-year model. Of course, this update will affect the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2. Besides typical updates, we could see a couple of novelties in terms of the model’s exclusive features as well.
- Great off-road performances
- Efficient diesel option
- Excellent towing capacity
- Intuitive infotainment system
- Some cabin materials look cheap
- Front seats could be more comfortable
In terms of base design characteristics, this update probably won’t bring anything important. The overall layout is about to remain the same, though a couple of visual upgrades seem possible. The corporal sibling, GMC Canyon, will get a new grille for this occasion, so we could see something similar from Colorado as well.
When it comes to the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, it will continue with its exclusive features, which are mostly about improving off-road performances. Currently, this model comes with things like special dampers and higher ground clearance, bigger all-terrain tires, fender flares, a spray-in bedliner, and an electronically locking rear differential. Also, this model comes with different bumpers compared to standard models, which besides the visuall effect also improves approach and departure angles.
We don’t expect bigger changes inside the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2. Compared to standard models, this version does feature a couple of distinctive details, but the cabin is essentially the same. Still, we don’t exclude the possibility to see updates in terms of standard equipment. We could see some novelties in terms of tech goodies, but also some additions in terms of safety. Still, don’t count on anything radical.
This aspect definitely won’t bring any change. The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 will continue with a well-known 3.6-liter V6, which is good for about 310 horsepower. A diesel version is also available. Of course, it is a familiar 2.8-liter Duramax engine, which is good for about 180 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque. The V6 comes with eight-speed automatic, while the diesel version uses a six-speed automatic gearbox.
2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Release Date and Price
Despite the update, the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 shouldn’t come much earlier than usual. Also, we don’t expect to see bigger changes in price. The current model starts at around $41,000. Of course, Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro will remain the key rival.
