Older generations probably remember the famous coupe utility from the 80s. At that time, this was a quite popular segment in the automotive industry. However, the interest for such vehicles faded away soon after, so the Rampage was discontinued in the same decade. Decades later, we saw a 2006 Concept, which featured a completely different design. It was much bigger and with a pretty rugged stance. However, it never entered serial production. These days, it looks like the nameplate will be in use once again, as the 2021 Dodge Rampage Concept has been rumored.
- Rugged design
- Spacious cabin
- Powerful engines
- Smooth ride
- Still just a rumor
- May not even come
If you remember the 2006 Concept, you know it was a pretty large vehicle, as big as the Ram 1500. This time, it looks like the 2021 Dodge Rampage Concept will be notably smaller. Once again, we will see this nameplate with different design characteristics. It looks like this nameplate will be used for a mid-size truck in the future. This segment is becoming popular once again and Dodge/Ram still doesn’t have its player in the class. Interestingly, some reports suggesting that the new model will actually ride on a unibody platform. Still, we are much closer to a scenario where the 2021 Dodge Rampage Concept would ride on a traditional BoF platform and probably have a lot in common with the new Jeep Gladiator.
It is way too early to talk about the possible look of interior design. Of course, the concept version would probably come with a little bit upgraded cabin look, while the eventual production version would probably look more conventional, more production-friendly. In any case, we count on a quite spacious cabin, with a lot of opulence and great comfort and overall ride quality. Utility probably won’t be in the focus.
We expect to see 2021 Dodge Rampage Concept with some of the familiar FCA engines. Once the serial production starts, the base model will probably come with a well-known 3.6-liter V6 engine, with a max output between 280 and 305 horsepower. Also, we could easily see a hi-performance version, equipped with a large 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine. Finally, it won’t be a surprise to see a diesel version in the offer as well. Of course, a 3.0-liter turbo inline-six with around 250 horsepower seems like a logical choice.
2021 Dodge Rampage Concept Release Date and Price
The 2021 Dodge Rampage Concept could have premiere already in the next year. If the critics will be good, production could start soon after, We presume that base models would go around 30.000 dollars.
