The next generation of the iconic pickup truck is coming next year as the 2021 Ford F-150. Those are the latest reports about America’s best-selling vehicle in the past four decades. The testing model has been spotted and despite it still wears a camouflage, we have seen a lot of interesting novelties.
The Blue Oval company will introduce a bunch of new technologies and design solutions, so the new model will once again set new standards in the automotive industry. Among them, we will see new powertrain options, including both hybrid and all-electric versions.
- Lightweight body and chassis
- Efficient engines
- Class-leading towing and hauling
- Intuitive infotainment system
- Firm ride
- Some rivals will probably be more upscale on the inside
In terms of the exterior design, there is no doubt that the 2021 Ford F-150 will get a completely new styling for this occasion. However, the testing model still wears a camouflage, so we won’t talk much about aesthetics.
On the other side, we are about to see some new technologies and design solutions, never seen before in the truck industry. This refers to things like independent rear suspension. This feature will be an option. It may limit capabilities, but it will definitely have a huge impact on overall comfort. Also, the testing model wears some interesting parts, such as door-mounted wing mirrors, which should improve aerodynamics.
Also, the latest reports are suggesting a cargo bed made of composite materials, which should provide some additional weight savings.
Big novelties are expected on the inside as well. After the launch of new Ram 1500, it becomes obvious that trucks aren’t working machines anymore. This truck now features a pretty luxurious interior, by far the nicest cabin in the class. We may presume that the 2021 Ford F-150 will try to match its rival, so expect to see significant improvements in terms of materials’ quality, dashboard aesthetics and tech features.
The company will continue with the downsizing trend, so the focus will be on EcoBoost engines. Most likely, the 5.0-Coyotee will be dropped. However, that doesn’t mean that V8 engines won’t be in the offer. The new Raptor model will probably come with GT500’s new V8, which should feature a max output between 650 and 700 horsepower, if not even more.
Besides conventional powertrain options, a hybrid version will come too, already in the next year. An all-electric version is expected as well but probably won’t hit the market in the next couple of years.
