2021 Jeep Wrangler

2021 Jeep Wrangler

The current generation of the legendary off-roader has been around for a couple of years and it looks like the company prepares first updates. The first model to come with bigger novelties will be 2021 Jeep Wrangler. According to the latest reports, we are about to see a new, plug-in hybrid version. This seems logical, considering that current engines aren’t particularly fuel-efficient, especially the base V6 unit. Other than that, we won’t see more important changes, expect maybe a couple of new features.

Pros:

  • Excellent off-road performances
  • Lots of standard equipment
  • Plenty of cargo space in the four-door model
  • Lots of unique visual details

Cons:

  • Low mpg ratings
  • Below-average predicted reliability ratings

2021 Jeep Wrangler Plug-In Hybrid

This is by far the most important novelty for the next year. The latest reports are suggesting the same system as you can find in the Pacifica Hybrid.

The popular minivan features a quite efficient system that is base on a V6 engine and features 33 miles of the all-electric range. Of course, this range would be notably shorter compared to the minivan, due to obviously much more weight. Also, there’s a chance to see a slight power boost, as the current system delivers around 260 horsepower.

Engines

Other than a new plug-in hybrid, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler is about to carry on with familiar engine options. Base models feature a well-known 3.6-liter Pentastar, which is good for about 285 horsepower. An optional turbo-four features max power of 270 hp, but also a notably more torque, so the acceleration is actually better with this engine.

This engine also features higher mpg ratings. Speaking of the mpg ratings, there is a change to see a diesel version already by the end of this year. Of course, we are talking about a familiar 3.0-liter turbodiesel with around 260 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque.

Exterior

Other than new powertrain options, things in the 2021 Jeep Wrangler should remain pretty much the same. We count on the same, good-old Wrangler design, which hasn’t changed for decades. Naturally, there will be both two- and four-door models in the offer. Of course, you may count on excellent off-road performances, like this one of the rare BoF SUVs in the class, along with the Toyota 4Runner.

Interior

On the inside, you can count on decent-looking and well-built design. Most materials are hard to the touch but will last for ages. In terms of tech features, base models already come with things like a touchscreen, eight-speaker audio system, USB and auxiliary ports, and Bluetooth. All in all, we don’t expect more significant changes in this aspect either.

2021 Jeep Wrangler Release Date and Price

Despite the novelties, we expect to see 2021 Jeep Wrangler in the typical time. The base price should remain pretty much the same, which would mean around $28,000.
