It looks like the iconic pickup truck will get another update. The current generation has been around since 2015 and, interestingly, in received updates just a couple of years later. The famous model is well-known for its exceptional reliability, durability and sturdiness, but it looks like the company still isn’t satisfied the aesthetics. Therefore, it looks like the 2021 Toyota Hilux will also come with novelties. Although there are no reports from the company, many experts claim it is time for another refresh. The focus will once again be on the styling and we expect to see the new model sometime in the next year.
- Exceptional reliability
- Great off-road performances
- Refined diesel engine
- Worldclass reputation
- Rivals are more upscale
- Some rivals feature better fuel economy
The 2021 Toyota Hilux will probably get another update and the focus will once again be on aesthetics. The segment of small pickup trucks is getting crowded these days. Besides traditional rivals like Chevy Colorado, Nissan Navara, Isuzu D-Max and others, there is also a number of completely new models in the segment. Therefore, the Japanese manufacturer will offer a new model with updated aesthetics.
Although it is still early to talk about details, we presume that a lot of inspiration will be taken from the North American Tacoma. This truck looks impressive, so it would be great if we can see similar headlights and grille on the Hilux as well.
On the other side, the cabin of 2021 Toyota Hilux probably won’t be changed too much. This truck puts focus rather on functionality than luxury, so you won’t find too much opulence on the inside. Most materials are hard plastics, while the list of standard equipment doesn’t go beyond most basic things. All in all, the best we could see for the upcoming update would be the addition of new standard features. This particularly refers to technology and safety.
Considering that the Hilux is available in many parts of the world, the list of available engines includes several years, though the exact offer largely depends on the market. In Europe, Australia and several other markets, the main choice is a well-known 2.8-liter turbodiesel, which is good for about 177 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque.
On certain markets, you can also find an older-generation 3.0-liter turbodiesel with around 165 horsepower. Also, there are well-known gasoline units, including a 2.7-liter four-cylinder with around 160 hp, as well as a large 4.0-liter V6, which is tuned to 235 horsepower.
2021 Toyota Hilux Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2021 Toyota Hilux sometime in the second half of the next year. Depending on the markets, base models go somewhere between $25,000 and $30,000.
