The upcoming mid-cycle refresh is bringing a plethora of novelties. However, that won’t be everything we will see from the current generation of this amazing pickup truck. Latest reports are suggesting that novelties are about to come for the next year as well, in the form of 2021 Toyota Tacoma Diesel.
It looks that rumors are finally about to become true, which is not surprising, considering that rivals are preparing oil-burner versions too. At this point, it is still early to talk about details, but this really looks like a certain thing, according to most experts.
- Great fuel economy
- Improved towing capacity
- Exceptional off-road performances
- Traditionally amazing predicted reliability ratings
- Rivals are more practical for everyday ride
- Potentially more expensive than rivals
From the outside, the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Diesel won’t be much different that regular, gasoline models. It will feature the same design as the model that was introduced in 2015. Of course, keep in mind the changes that are coming this September.
These novelties are small but very subtle. In terms of the styling, there is a new grille design, as well as new, more massive side mirrors, which should reduce wind noise. Also, there are new LED headlights and new, very interesting turn signals. All in all, more than enough novelties to expect no changes before a complete overhaul.
Compared to the gasoline version, the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Diesel won’t feature too much different interior design. Practically, the only thing that will be different is the instrument cluster, which will be adapted to an oil-burner.
Other than that, things are about to be just the same. Still, keep in mind the novelties that are coming with the 2020-year model. There is a new infotainment system, smartphone integration, power-adjustable driver’s seat etc. With such novelties, we have no doubt that this truck will manage to keep leading position on the market, despite that there is a bunch of new models that recently came.
All of them will come with a diesel engine in the offer as well, both Ranger and Gladiator.
Of course, this is the most interesting part of the new version will be the powertrain. The 2021 Toyota Tacoma Diesel will come with some of Toyota’s familiar oil-burners. Of course, a well-known 2.8-liter turbodiesel seems most likely. This unit currently powers the famous HiLux, in a version that delivers 177 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. Some reports suggest we could see a slight power boost for this occasion. The 2021 Toyota Tacoma Diesel would probably feature around 200 horsepower, in order to outpace the biggest rival, Chevy Colorado Diesel.
2021 Toyota Tacoma Diesel Release Date and Price
At this point, there is still no official confirmation for the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Diesel. So, the only thing we can do is to presume that the new model will come sometime in the second half of the next year. When it comes to the price, base models will probably go around 30.000 dollars.
